Our Story

GrocerKey was founded by Jeremy Neren in 2014 to apply modern digital technology and the eCommerce operations experience of several industry veterans he recruited to join him in advancing the grocery industry.

In early 2015, Woodman’s, the largest independent grocery chain in Wisconsin and northern Illinois, became our first major customer. Soon we were powering ShopWoodmans.com.

The GrocerKey team knew that bricks-and-mortar grocery store sales were flat, while online grocery sales were increasing 22% annually. And yet 25,000 grocery stores still weren’t offering eCommerce. Industry reports estimated that 10,000+ of those stores, however, intended to do so over the next three years, in the U.S. alone. Thus, we saw a major market opportunity — and a technology gap and lack of eCommerce operations expertise we knew we could address.

Today, GrocerKey has added many more customers because it goes well beyond just advanced digital technology to partner with its customers — specifically, with planning, training, and strategy to help ensure the profitability of their eCommerce grocery operations.

Management

GrocerKey has a veteran startup management team, strong software development expertise, and a growing record of producing results for large grocery chains. Together with its advisors, the team has a combined 50+ years of experience in building and managing online grocery operations.

The GrocerKey team has succeeded in reaching online consumers through on-demand delivery, building a warehouse model with thousands of daily orders, and introducing some of the largest grocery retailers in the U.S. to eCommerce.

Jeremy Neren
Founder & CEO

Founded an eCommerce grocery business in 2006 that was profitable in just its first year of business and went on to deliver 120,000+ orders to 15,000+ customers. Created GrocerKey in 2014 leveraging enterprise software and eCommerce grocery operations experience developed throughout his decade in the eCommerce grocery industry.

Daniel Glucksman
CTO

Attended the Jerusalem College of Technology and served in the Israeli Army. Previously served as CTO of a tech startup and operated a development shop for roughly a decade. Currently oversees a dedicated GrocerKey development team, with team members throughout Israel and Eastern Europe.

Served as a project manager at Epic Systems, a multi-billion dollar privately held company providing enterprise software to hospitals that represent over 54% of U.S. medical records. Uses her experience in project management of enterprise-level software to assist GrocerKey retail customers in implementing our comprehensive technology solution.

Zack Neren
CFO

For more than a decade, served as a senior controller at CBRE, the world's largest real estate investment management company. As CFO, he has been tasked with ensuring that GrocerKey continues to operate ShopWoodmans.com profitably on behalf of Woodman's Markets, and building a financial model for eCommerce profitability for all other GrocerKey retail customers.

A pioneer in the eCommerce grocery industry with more than 20 years of experience. Created an eCommerce grocery business in the 1990s that was acquired by Peapod, where he served as an SVP for 15+ years, helping the company become a leader in the U.S. eCommerce grocery industry.

Heidi Chapnick

An eCommerce grocery veteran with a wealth of operations experience. Served as the head of eCommerce at Peapod, led the re-launch of CVS.com, and assisted several large grocery chains on the East Coast in launching their eCommerce businesses.

A CPG veteran with more than 30 years of experience. Previously served as the CFO and Vice President of Strategy at Unilever, the third largest consumer packaged goods company in the world.
